Bring your scouts to the Nature Center!

Let an experienced Seven Ponds naturalist lead your den or pack on a  fun and educational program.

All of our programs are designed to meet scouting requirements as outlined in the Scouts BSA Handbook.

Cub/Boy Scouts

Lion through Boy Scout programs range from 2 to 4 hours. Program fees vary depending on badge. No fee for Scout leaders.

Lions

Kindergarten

Lions will learn what is needed to go out an outdoor adventure, how to be safe on a hike and show how to respect animals while hiking the trails. Fee $4.00 per person.

Tigers

1st Grade

My Tiger Jungle
We combine these requirements into a two hour field trip with your Tiger Den. We will see what it takes to be prepared for a hike, learn about the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace for Kids, identify animals and plants. Includes building a birdhouse. Fee $14.00 per person.

Wolf Scout

2nd Grade

Come on a hike with your wolf den while meeting all the requirements for this adventure! We will learn safe hiking skills and go on a one mile hike, identify animals, practice leave no trace principles and play a fun game. Fee $4.00 per person.

Bear Scout

3rd Grade

Fur, Feathers & Ferns

We will hike the trails of the park while identifying animals and studying plants. We will learn about extinct and endangered animals and also how composting can help us grow a garden. Fee $4.00 per person.

Webelos

4th & 5th Grade

Castaway: Webelos will fulfill the requirements for this badge by learning how to build a shelter and survival kit, what to do if you are lost, how to treat water, and how to be a good leader when in a survival situation. This is a 3 hour program. Fee $6.00 per person.

Into the Wild: Study animals, food chains, and aquatic ecosystems while visiting the nature center and earning this pin. Fee $4.00 per person.

Earth Rocks: Have fun learning about geology ! We will identify different types of rocks and minerals, use a mineral test kit, and learn about the geology of the area. Fee $4.00 per person.

Into the Woods: Learn about trees and the important role they play in nature. Fee $4.00 per person.

Daisies, Brownies, Junior Girl Scouts, and Cadette programs are 2 hours long and the fee is $5.00 per person.

by learning all about bugs through crafts,

WOW! Wonders of Water

Brownies will earn the first badge in this journey,

Love Water, and will get a jump start into

the other three awards.

Junior Girl Scouts Legacy Badge

Girl Scouts will learn all about flowers while earning

this badge through hiking and hands-on

discovery. Girls should bring flowers

to make arrangements.

What are your operating hours and admission?
Seven Ponds Nature Center is open 6 days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, 9am – 5pm.

When can I schedule a program?
We can accommodate scout trips on weekends, days off of school, and occasionally after school. The Nature Center will work with you to meet your pack or den’s needs.

  • Call the Nature Center to check for availability at 810-796-3200 or complete a request form (above). We will check to see if we have availability on the calendar first!
  • Program Time and Cost: Cub/Boy Each programs are 2 to 4 hours and the fee is $4.00 per person, unless otherwise noted. Girls Scout programs are 2 hours and the fee is $5.00 per person. Leaders are free of charge. Please read the program description for more information.
  • For All Programs: Pay your balance, calculated on the number of participants who attend, on the day of your visit.
